Updated - June 2008
The Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary
- Unit 25 Gulf Islands - needs volunteers who will be active in marine
search and rescue and the provision of boating safety information and
education to the community.
Volunteers must have a respect for authority, be able to endure all
weather conditions, demonstrate good physical and mental health,
and have a firm commitment to both on going participation
and availability. A marine background is also helpful.

Thursday evening from 17:00 -19:00 (approx). Dedicated participation
is encouraged. Training continues as required to achieve and maintain
competency.
This is a fine opportunity for the
marine enthusiast to develop skills both in the classroom and aboard a
fast rescue craft, to meet interesting people and to explore the
beauty of our Gulf Island communities.
Volunteers rotate on pager duty 24/7.
Pager crew assignments are usually 1 week in 4, (or a portion
thereof). Community Boating Safety events are scheduled throughout the
year.
