Looking For Volunteers?

Any non-profit organization, group or service club that involves volunteers in their work may request that we post an ad on Volunteer Salt Spring.

What types of volunteer opportunities are appropriate to post?

Any kind of volunteer opportunity that your group has to offer is appropriate, from "frontline" activities to board level, short or long-term commitments, special projects or events—all those volunteer jobs that meet the needs of your organization.

Lady Minto Hospital has an year-round need for volunteers at Extendicare to read to residents, play cards or scrabble, assist with gardening, or become a Friendly Visitor, and to help out with many other activities

Where will the volunteer opportunities be posted?

The volunteer requests you submit will be posted here on the Volunteer Salt Spring website in our Volunteer Opportunities section.

Please remember:

Posting your volunteer opportunities in this manner is simply a "bulletin board" service of Volunteer Salt Spring. It in no way eliminates or changes your organization's responsibility to conduct your usual interviewing and screening procedures when recruiting new volunteers.

Volunteer Requests

Please save a copy of our Volunteer Request Form, fill it out and email it to us to have your volunteer
job(s) posted on our website.

Filling out and sending us the form is really very easy, but here are some basic directions for filling out and sending us the form:

Click the Volunteer Request Form link above or the starfish at right to open the form.

Save a copy of the form to the "Desktop" on your own computer - Your computer may give you one of the following choices for saving it:

if it opens in Quick View select the Word icon and save it as NameOfYourOrganizationRequest, then choose Open. (You can also use Save As from the File menu)

if you go directly to a pop-up screen that gives you a choice to Open or Save it, select Save and rename it as suggested above.

Fill out the form and then save the completed form.

Click on the email link above. This will open your email program with our address already in the 'To' line. Type Volunteer Salt Spring Request in the Subject line, attach the file and send it to us. (Use your email program's Help menu if you're not sure how to attach a file.)

Lastly, to help us serve the community better, please be sure to let us know when your volunteer position is filled.

Can't be bothered with forms? Send us an email that includes:

The name of your Organization
The number of volunteers required
An overview of the volunteer position
Skills and experience required
What training is provided
An overview of the benefits to the volunteer.
Duration of the position - i.e. - week(s), months, ongoing
Time: (morning, afternoon, etc.)
When: (weekdays, weekends)
Start date of the position
Location address

Be sure to include:

A Contact name and the Contact's position (title) in your organization. The Contact's phone number, email address and your organization's web address (if you have one). And lastly, please provide us with your organization’s Mission Statement.
