The Salt Spring Therapeutic Riding Association requires volunteer side-walkers/instructor aids for their Therapeutic Riding program.

Side-walkers and aides assist the instructor and riders in the Therapeutic Riding program by walking with the horse and rider during the 30 to 45 minute riding lesson. Volunteers are asked to commit to one 1-hour riding lesson per week for an 11 week session. Sessions are held weekdays in the morning or afternoon on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 1860 Fulford-Ganges Rd. Starting dates rotate and are negotiable. Volunteers for projects are also needed.

The Salt Spring Therapeutic Riding Association draws on its volunteer’s enthusiasm, skills, wisdom, and commitment to help riders achieve their goals. As a volunteer you must be healthy and able to walk with horse for the duration of riding session. A Therapeutic Rider volunteer training program is provided. This is a super opportunity to work with community members and horses in a healthy, outdoor environment.
